Liberalization of e-Visa Regime

The Government of India has liberalized the e-Visa regime.  The details of changes made are given below:

i) A short duration e-visa fortourism of one-month validity with visa fee of US$ 25 has been introduced;

ii) To encourage off-season (April-June) tourism, visa fee of US$ 25 has been reduced to US$ 10 during this period; and

iii) e-Tourist visa of 5-year duration has been introduced.

2. The revised e-visa fees for US nationals are given below:

PROCESSING TIME (from the day the application is received in the Consulate)

  • General- for US passport holders - 3 working days - 3 working days
  • Visa with Renunciation – for US passport holders  -7 to 10 working days
  • Foreign Passport holders- 7 to 10 working  days

The above is general processing time for tourist and business visa for US passport holders of US/Indian origin. 

There may be higher processing time for various other foreign passport holders and US passport holders of not US origin and for various other different categories of visa.

Consulate reserve the right to reject any visa application without giving any reasons.
