The online module for submission and processing of application forms for registration as OCI card holders and providing OCI miscellaneous services has been rolled out with effect from 1st January, 2016.  It is mandatory for the applicants to upload the supporting documents, photographs and the signature in the online system.

VFS Global is the only authorized Service Provider for the Embassy of India and the Consulates General of India across USA for Passport, Visa, OCI and Renunciation of Indian Citizenship services.

Residents of the following US States and Territories can apply for OCI at the VFS Application Centre, Atlanta: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virgin Islands.

Consulate General of India, Atlanta does not accept OCI applications directly from the applicants by walk-in or post.

Those who have not renounced their Indian citizenship may apply for Renunciation and on receiving the Renunciation Certificate may apply for OCI. Renunciation and OCI cannot be applied for together.

Rules for Re-issue of OCI Card (On obtaining new passports)

• For an OCI Cardholder who is up to 20 years of age, OCI card must be re-issued each time a new passport is issued.

• For an OCI Cardholder who has completed 50 years of age, OCI card must be re-issued once after the issuance of a new passport. If the OCI card has been issued for the first time after completing 50 years of age, there is no need for re-issuance of OCI.

• For an OCI Cardholder who is between 21 and 50 years of age, re-issuance of OCI is not mandatory each time a new passport is issued. However, if the applicant desires, he/she can apply for re-issue of OCI so that the OCI card will reflect the current passport number.
